Monday, Sept.23


Today is the first day of Fall so we talked about Fall. What are some changes we see?  We read, Mouse's First Fall and drew in our journals about our favorite fall activity.

The AM students had a chance to look at and describe buttons. See the picture below. Can you describe each button? What do you notice about them? Can you sort them in different ways.

The AM students attended an assembly about Terry Fox. Who is he and why is he so special?

The PM students participated in our first fire drill of the school year. We learned how to line up quickly and quietly to go outside. Green Group - please send in your "Happiness Museum" item and we will start sharing tomorrow with the PM students.

If you have an empty cracker or cereal box, please send one in with your child by Wednesday.  It is for an art project we will be working on. Thank you!

Folders sent home today with first scholastic book order of the year.  Scholastic book orders are due Sept 30.  Please see the flyers for information if you are interested in ordering books for your child.

A reminder that tomorrow is Picture day. 

The Terry Fox run on Friday. The PM kindergarten will be attending school on Friday. AM kindergarten students are welcome to join us on the run but MUST be accompanied by an adult as it is a PM kindergarten Friday.

 We are looking for volunteers with their police clearance. More details to follow through the volunteer coordinators as we get closer to the day.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Kindergarten was very fun today.  All of our arrival centers were about Halloween. We printed halloween words, played bingo, roll and count game with rings, crafts etc. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes!  We drew pictures of ourselves in our Halloween costumes in our journals.  Some of us drew pictures of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and trick or treating with our families.  We used Smarties to sort by color and graph the number of Smarties in the box.  Ask your child what color they had most in their box.  After students graphed their Smarties, they got to eat them.  This was the highlight of their day! All students had gym today with Mr. Der . What game did your child play today? Ask them to share. Students came home with overflowing colored folders.  Please empty the folders out and return them on Monday.  Every child has more book circles in their folders.  Thank you for continuing to read with your child and send the circles back.  We are

Learning Intentions for the Week -  Early Literacy   I can express ideas and develop my understanding by sharing personal experiences. I can identify my favourite stories and books. I can use drawings to illustrate ideas and information, and talk about them. Learning Intentions for the Week -  Numeracy / N umber Sense I can represent and describe numbers 2 to 10, concretely and pictorially. I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10, to its respective quantity. I can compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence. We have continued to post a daily read aloud in the read aloud section which is located on the left hand side of the blogger.
