Mr. Kelly came to do an art lesson with us. He continued to talk to us about how we are all artists as we can draw simple shapes to make anything. We love when Mr. Kelly comes to visit us as he is such an awesome storyteller. The AM students read the story, Little Bot and Sparrow and used simple shapes to create robots. The PM students read the story, Superhero Instruction Manual and used simple shapes to create superheroes. The students are doing an amazing job with their drawings! All classes went to gym. The students participated in circuits. Which one did they like best? We finished our monster color wheel . Talk to your child about what they have learned about colours. Tomorrow is a PM kindergarten morning. Please remember to bring a small stuffie for our building wonder time. It needs to no bigger than 4" (ie. beanie boo keychain). Today we read the book "Mouse Paint".  We learned that red, blue and yellow are the primary colors.  The mice in the book found paint and jumped into the paint pots to make new colors.  We learned that the mice made the secondary colors!  It was fun mixing red and blue to make purple, mixing yellow and blue to make green and mixing red and yellow to make orange.   Kindergarten had music and gym today.  Please ask your child what they did today in the gym or music. We are continuing to work on the letters of the alphabet.  We have worked on p, b, t, d, f, & v.  Please ask your child what sounds the letters make and have your child go on an alphabet hunt to find these letters! Please remember that Friday is a PM day.  There is no school for AM Kindergarten.

We read Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes in the morning and The Deep Blue Sea in the afternoon. We then spoke about what we already know about color. We will be focusing on color exploration. Where do we see color in our community? Here are some things that our learners already know about colour: "They can be dark and light." - Parker "There can be lots of different colors of purple." - Brooklyn "If you add white to it, it gets lighter." - Simon With our focus on colors this week, please send your children to school in clothing that can get messy. We will be exploring with paint most days. Thank you. We reviewed the letter F introduced a new letter. We looked at the letter V and the sound it makes. We created the letters we know using our bodies and also with loose parts. We have learned P, B. T. D. F, V. Ask your child how to make these sounds. It is attached below so you can practice reading it at home. Students played a Guess Who Community helpers partner game. Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. Our arrival centers included a chance to explore shapes.  We built buildings with shapes, used plasticine & toothpicks to make 3-D shapes, used geo-boards & elastics to make shapes and played shape roll & write.  Please ask your child what shape center they explored today. Please note the learning commons is closed this week for book exchange due to the set up of the book fair. There is NO school Thursday Nov 21 and Friday Nov 22 for Kindergarten due to parent teacher interviews.  Please book a conference to discuss your child's progress with their responsibility teacher.  It is essential that teachers meet with all families

Today we read the story, "I am Human" and talked about different emotions. We spoke about how we can show kindness and empathy towards each other. We traced a hand print, cut it out and wrote our name on them and we are placing them in a heart together to show that we are all working together to create a peaceful community. We continued to talk about community helpers in our community. We went outside and played at the playground for a movement break. After we sat at the outdoor amphitheater and Ms. Standing read the story "Ish" by Peter Reynolds. We talked about shapes we see in nature and had to find an item in nature that looked like a shape. Ask your child what they found and what shape 'ish' the item looked like. We drew and wrote in our journals. Many of us drew about what we are excited about. We painted the firetrucks we sketched with watercolors. Please check your emails for a note in regards to parent teacher conference next Thursday Nove
