We did texture art today. We used our cereal boxes and loose parts to create a texture collage. We will add to our collage tomorrow. We had to choose at least 10 items with a variety of textures. We read, A Pair of Socks. We talked about different ways items can be sorted. As a class, each student got a sock. We then looked at our socks and had to decide how to organize them. AM kindergarten sorted by long, polka dots, fuzzy, picture, stripped and shape socks. Can you try this at home? Your child can help sort the laundry and decide how socks could be sorted. All students went to gym class today. What activities did your child engage in? A Kindergarten Calendar came home in our folders. Please check your child's backpack. Some parents had older versions of the calendar. The up to date calendar is also available on the school website. Sorry about the confusion. http://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/ericharvie/SiteCollectionDocuments/2019-2020-EHS-Kindergarten-Friday-Times.pdf

Today was picture day. Big smiles all around! We read, The Button Box and each got a cup of buttons to try and sort. What did you notice about the buttons? Size, colour, shape, number of holes, texture etc. The students then paired off and played a button game. A cup was filled with buttons. We swirled the buttons around . Each person closed their eyes and picked one button. Once we picked a button we opened our eyes and described the button. Then we had to find the similarities between the two buttons. Can you play this game at home? You can use a number of different objects to play. We read,  Soft and Smooth, Rough and Bumpy. We learned about our sense of touch. We had mystery bags and had to describe how each item in the bag felt. Mrs. Mask's classes went to gym class. Mrs. Conley and Mrs. Watterson's class had music. It was a beautiful day so we took a break and went to the playground in the morning. Hopefully we can go tomorrow afternoon as well. Mrs. Watterso

Today we looked at non fiction and fiction stories about families. We talked about how all families look different and spoke about our own. Students drew and wrote about their families in their journals. We have first year student teachers Ms. Pickford and Ms. Grover from Mount Royal University joining our morning kindergarten classes every Wednesday. We are happy to have them helping out in our class. All classes went to gym today. What games did your child play today? With the last days of summer coming to an end, we graphed our favourite summer activity. Ask your child what they choose. Talk about the words, more, less, most, least at home. When out on errands or in the household see if you can have your child look at a group of items and compare. Which has more, less, the same? Mrs. Watterson's class had a notice go home about The Happiness Museum.  Each class will be participating, but Mrs. Watterson's group will start next week from September 23-
