We did texture art today. We used our cereal boxes and loose parts to create a texture collage. We will add to our collage tomorrow. We had to choose at least 10 items with a variety of textures.

We read, A Pair of Socks. We talked about different ways items can be sorted. As a class, each student got a sock. We then looked at our socks and had to decide how to organize them.
AM kindergarten sorted by long, polka dots, fuzzy, picture, stripped and shape socks.

Can you try this at home? Your child can help sort the laundry and decide how socks could be sorted.

All students went to gym class today. What activities did your child engage in?

A Kindergarten Calendar came home in our folders. Please check your child's backpack. Some parents had older versions of the calendar. The up to date calendar is also available on the school website. Sorry about the confusion.

Terry Fox run is on Friday, September 27th. Friday is a school day for PM kindergarten (8:20am-12:00pm). AM students are welcome to join us on the walk but MUST be accompanied by an adult. Please feel free to meet us at TMC.

Listed below is the proposed schedule for Friday morning:

9:00 AM: All learners, staff and volunteers depart from EHS to walk over to TMC 
9:40 AM: Warm up and start of run 
10:45 AM: End of run. Learners meet back with class to prepare for snack distribution 
11:20 AM: Start the walk back towards Eric Harvie School

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Kindergarten was very fun today.  All of our arrival centers were about Halloween. We printed halloween words, played bingo, roll and count game with rings, crafts etc. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes!  We drew pictures of ourselves in our Halloween costumes in our journals.  Some of us drew pictures of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and trick or treating with our families.  We used Smarties to sort by color and graph the number of Smarties in the box.  Ask your child what color they had most in their box.  After students graphed their Smarties, they got to eat them.  This was the highlight of their day! All students had gym today with Mr. Der . What game did your child play today? Ask them to share. Learning Intentions for the Week -  Early Literacy   I can express ideas and develop my understanding by sharing personal experiences. I can identify my favourite stories and books. I can use drawings to illustrate ideas and information, and talk about them. Learning Intentions for the Week -  Numeracy / N umber Sense I can represent and describe numbers 2 to 10, concretely and pictorially. I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10, to its respective quantity. I can compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence. We have continued to post a daily read aloud in the read aloud section which is located on the left hand side of the blogger.
