Today was a very busy day in Kindergarten with our Celebration of learning. The kindergarten students have worked very hard these past few months preparing work to share with the school and families. The children spent the morning, sharing their learning with the rest of the school. They were responsible for leading a group of students around the hub and share their learning. We want to say a huge thank you to all the families for coming and supporting us today! It was so wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited to share their learning with you all.

AM kindergarten was very busy this morning finishing up everything for our Celebration of Learning. Today we reread, "Not a buzz to be Found" and did a journal response about what insects do in the winter. We went to gym and practiced our racketball skills. We are trying to balance and pass the ball to a partner. The AM kindergarten put together our Winter Habitat for our plasticine animals. We are very excited to share our learning with you tomorrow. We have been working so hard these past few months. Please come to the main entrance. Doors will be locked until 10:55am . We will start our presentation at 11:00am. We look forward to seeing you! We looked at the letter A and the sound it makes .We did a word hunt to find and read words that have A in them around the room. Can you find words at home or in the community that start with Aa? PM Kindergarten read, "When Will It Be Spring?". We then did a guided drawing of a Bear in our visual journals. Ask your

Today was Pink Shirt Day!  Thank you to everyone who wore pink shirts to school! Today AM Kindie worked on making animals out of plasticine to add to our winter landscape. We are very excited to show you our winter landscape at the Celebration of Learning on Friday. We continued to practice our songs and fingerplays for the show as well. PM kindergarten also worked on making animals out of plasticine - ask me what winter animal I created. We also read the story "Not a buzz to be Found" and did a journal response about what insects do in the winter. We worked on matching upper case letters of the alphabet to the lower case letters. We made a giant clothesline of the ABC's. Some of us learned some sign language as we sang a song. Please remember that our AM Celebration of Learning is Friday morning in the hub. We will start our presentation at 11:00am. The PM Celebration of Learning is Friday, March 6th at 11:00am.

Today we continued to work on our small worlds. We worked with different partners than yesterday to re-create a new winter habitat for an animal. We reviewed what would be important for animals to have in the winter with them; anywhere from things like a shelter, trees, bushes, food and water. Please ask your child what animal they built a habitat for today and what their animal does in winter in order to survive (hibernate, adapt or migrate). Both AM and PM kindergarten students worked on a new math problem today. There are 10 legs in the snow. How many animals are there? We drew out our animals and counted up the legs in our math journals. Ask me how I solved it? Is there more than one answer? Both groups had gym and music today. Please practice the "7 Feet of Snow" song with your child. We will be performing this song at our Celebration of Learning. We need a little extra practice with the end of the song as the lyrics are very quick! https://www.youtube.com/wat

Today we worked on building small worlds. We worked in partners and used loose parts to create a winter habitat for an animal. We talked about what would be important for animals to have in the winter with them, this included things like a shelter, trees, bushes, food and water. Please ask your child what animal they built a habitat for. We also looked more closely at the rabbit in the AM and the fox in the PM and what features they have that allow them to adapt in the winter. Ask me about what adaptations I know these animals might have. We had music and gym. In music we continued to practice our songs for the celebration. We even got to practice standing on the risers. In the gym we began exploring racquet skills and also played with the bean bags. Pink Shirt day in support of anti-bullying is Wednesday!  Please wear your pink shirt to school. Friday is AM Friday. The AM kids will be hosting our Winter Celebration of Learning. Please join at 11:00am in the hub to share in a

We began the morning by re-reading the story "Do Frogs Drink Hot Chocolate?".  This is such a fun book as it helped us to further investigate how animals stay warm in the winter.  We created flip books where we could ask our own question about how animals stay warm in winter.  Ask your child what their question was and what the answer is to the question.  We learned the words "yes" and "no" and practiced writing these words in our flip books. We also began creating a trifold that we are going to use to make an interactive winter scene for our celebration. We had Mrs. Southworth come in and visit us. She taught us a lesson from Incredible Flexible You. Thinking thoughts and feeling feelings. The children role played and practiced the roles of thinking thoughts and feeling feelings. We had centers and snack.  We continue to work hard on our poems and song for the celebration of learning.  Please help your child to practice the Seven Feet of Snow song.
