We began the morning by re-reading the story "Do Frogs Drink Hot Chocolate?".  This is such a fun book as it helped us to further investigate how animals stay warm in the winter.  We created flip books where we could ask our own question about how animals stay warm in winter.  Ask your child what their question was and what the answer is to the question.  We learned the words "yes" and "no" and practiced writing these words in our flip books.

We also began creating a trifold that we are going to use to make an interactive winter scene for our celebration.

We had Mrs. Southworth come in and visit us. She taught us a lesson from Incredible Flexible You. Thinking thoughts and feeling feelings. The children role played and practiced the roles of thinking thoughts and feeling feelings.

We had centers and snack.  We continue to work hard on our poems and song for the celebration of learning.  Please help your child to practice the Seven Feet of Snow song.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Kindergarten was very fun today.  All of our arrival centers were about Halloween. We printed halloween words, played bingo, roll and count game with rings, crafts etc. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes!  We drew pictures of ourselves in our Halloween costumes in our journals.  Some of us drew pictures of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and trick or treating with our families.  We used Smarties to sort by color and graph the number of Smarties in the box.  Ask your child what color they had most in their box.  After students graphed their Smarties, they got to eat them.  This was the highlight of their day! All students had gym today with Mr. Der . What game did your child play today? Ask them to share. Students came home with overflowing colored folders.  Please empty the folders out and return them on Monday.  Every child has more book circles in their folders.  Thank you for continuing to read with your child and send the circles back.  We are

Learning Intentions for the Week -  Early Literacy   I can express ideas and develop my understanding by sharing personal experiences. I can identify my favourite stories and books. I can use drawings to illustrate ideas and information, and talk about them. Learning Intentions for the Week -  Numeracy / N umber Sense I can represent and describe numbers 2 to 10, concretely and pictorially. I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10, to its respective quantity. I can compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence. We have continued to post a daily read aloud in the read aloud section which is located on the left hand side of the blogger.
