This week at school our focus will be on building a "Kinder-garden" in the windows of the Kindergarten classroom(s). Each day will focus on a new aspect of the garden. Today is flower day! We are excited to watch our garden grow this week!

Please note:  Each day we will focus on one element of the garden. You and your child are welcome to drop off the new item each day at the school mailbox, or you can wait until Friday to drop off your items, or your child may choose to only make one item for the garden (and that's ok!) and drop it off when completed.  As always, we want to provide options for our families so that you can choose what works best for you and your family. There is no pressure from us to have your child complete all the elements of the garden.

Mailbox is available daily out front of the school from 9:00am-2:30pm.

Math: Spell and Count Your Name Hopscotch
Materials: sidewalk chalk

Today we will be drawing a grid that has 26 squares in it - one for each letter of the alphabet. After drawing the square you will hop from letter to letter to spell out your name.  Count how many hops it takes to spell your name. Remember when you are counting hops to count on from the number you are at.

How many hops does it take to spell your name?  Can you spell your mom or dads name?  How many hops are in their names?  How about your brother or sister?  How many hops in their name?

Who has the most hops in their name? Who has the least? Are there any other words you can spell? How many hops are those words?

Can you add the number of hops from your name to the number of hops in your mom or dads name?

Please watch the videos to see Spell and Count Your Name Hopscotch in action at Mrs. Conley's house.
