Thursday December 19

Today was a great last day of Kindergarten before the Christmas break. Thank you to everyone who sent materials in for us to use to make elf traps. We read the story "How to Catch an Elf" and went to work designing our own traps. It was great to see so many creative ways to catch an elf. The Eric Harvie Kindergarten team would like to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas break. We hope you create many wonderful memories with your kiddos! We look forward to seeing everyone back at school in January and to hearing about all of your winter break adventures! There is no school tomorrow, December 20 as it is Professional Development day for teachers.  School starts  onTuesday, January 7, 2020. Happy Holidays and all the best in 2020! She showed us a recipe to make homemade granola and we got to make our own yogurt parfaits. Each student came home with a little package from the presentation. Ask your child what they learned about. Today we drew in our journals about our favorite Jan Brett story we have read so far. Ask your child about their favourite story. Have them retell the story and ask about the setting and characters. We looked at the number 2 and used our math journals to come up with where we find 2 in our world. We talked about how the number two is represented and where we find it. See if you can find examples at home. We had Wonder Time today. Our challenge was, "Can you build a 2 story home for your stuffy?" We had time to explore and use different materials and then planned and built out our 2 story homes. We asked our learners to think about how their stuffy will get from one floor to the next? How will the stuffy stay warm? What does your structure need to include (roof, rooms, stairs etc.) We showcased what they have learned in the Green Fools Residency. The students did an amazing job demonstrating their circus skills. Thank you to all the parents who came to be our audience!!
