We had new arrival centers this week. We are continuing with a focus on making our names with loose parts, play dough and printing. 

We worked in our journals today. We learned how to make to do 5 star drawings which includes using colours that make sense, colouring in the lines, using many colours, taking your time, adding many colours.

We also spoke about how we are all writers, even in Kindergarten. When we work in our journals, we must include our printing to go along with our drawings. (See picture below)

When your child draws at home, have them add their swirly printing, swirl combo or letter printing. These are the beginning steps to eventually get to book printing.

Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. Our arrival centers included a chance to explore shapes.  We built buildings with shapes, used plasticine & toothpicks to make 3-D shapes, used geo-boards & elastics to make shapes and played shape roll & write.  Please ask your child what shape center they explored today. Please note the learning commons is closed this week for book exchange due to the set up of the book fair.
