Tuesday October 8
Today we read an Apples book and learned about apples. We looked at and described three kinds of apples, Red Delicious, Granny Smith and Royal Gala. What did your child learn about apples?
We then tasted each apple and described how it tasted. We told the students we were going to graph our results of the taste test. The students had to choose their favourite apple and colour and cut out the apple and placed it on our graph. Ask your child about which apple they chose and what the class results were. Have a talk about the meaning of more, less, equal with your child.
We read an apple poem. Make a fun pointer stick at home and have your child practice reading the poem with you.
Mrs. Mask's class had gym with Mr. Der.
Mrs. Conley and Mrs. Watterson's had music.
Check out their blog pages to find out more.
The PM classes learned to play a power of ten game. Each person had to flip over a card, count the number of coloured boxes and state the number. The person with the higher number got to keep the cards. (We then played with the lower number) You can play this game at home with a deck of cards. Just remember to take out the Jack, Queen, King and Joker.
Reading Tip
*Before you start, read the title, look at the cover, and wonder together what the story will be about. *
Please send in an apple for Thursday as we will be making apple sauce. Thank you!
