At arrival centers, we sorted a variety of alphabet letters (uppercase/lowercase, foam, wooden, magnetic, large/small in size etc). We tried to focus on sorting in many different ways (uppercase/lowercase, letters with lines /letters with curves, letters in your name/ letters not in your name etc.). Ask your child how they chose to sort their items. Can you have your child sort items at home in a variety of ways?
We looked at retelling and sequencing events in a story. Students had to cut out pictures and sequence the events of raking leaves. Practice this skill at home. Read a story with your child and have them retell the story in their own words.
We discussed the letter Bb. What sound does Bb make? What is the difference between the p and b sound. Ask your child to show you how to make the sound. We read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? We picked out all of the words that start with B. Read a story with your child tonight and see if they can pick out words with the letter b.
Please remember to pack an apple for your child as we are making applesauce tomorrow.
