Monday November 4

Please welcome Ms. Standing our University of Calgary student teacher. She will be with in Kindergarten for 6 weeks. Ms. Standing is looking forward to getting to know your children and working with them.

Today was a wonderful day at school. We have started to look at our community and began with asking the question "What do you know about Calgary?" We brainstormed many ideas including the Calgary Tower, the Bow Building, the YMCA and the Peace Bridge.


We had music with Mrs. Coulson and gym with Mr. Der today. Please ask your child what they did when they were out of the classroom. We also now have a vet clinic in our dramatic play area - the students seem to be loving taking care of the animals.




POWERSCHOOL - our first learning intention and evaluation was added to Power School App. Please log onto your child's account to see their information. A literacy learning intention was also added. Please watch for the evaluation of the literacy learning intention in mid November.

Friday, Nov. 8 is a PM Kindergarten Day.  There is no school for AM Kindergarten.

Tuscany Fire Station Tours - tours will happen during regular kindergarten school times. Please contact your volunteer coordinator if you have a valid police clearance and would like to volunteer to join your child on the trip.

Jacket Racket continues!  Please send gently used winter wear including coats, mittens, scarves, hats, boots, etc. to school in a bag marked with the items and sizes inside. We appreciate your support of this much needed program!

Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. Our arrival centers included a chance to explore shapes.  We built buildings with shapes, used plasticine & toothpicks to make 3-D shapes, used geo-boards & elastics to make shapes and played shape roll & write.  Please ask your child what shape center they explored today. Please note the learning commons is closed this week for book exchange due to the set up of the book fair.
