Wednesday November 13

Today we talked about maps and where we see maps in our daily life. We looked at google maps and looked at our community. We found our school and looked at what is close by. 

We then used big pieces of chart paper and used different materials to build places in our community. What did your child build? 

Both classes went to gym class. What games did they play ?

The AM students read, "The Biggest Snowman Ever" and talked about the characters in the story. Ask your child how did the mice make the biggest snowman ever? 

The PM students looked at 2D and 3D shapes. We talked about triangles and cones and found examples in our classroom. We practiced drawing triangles in our journals. 

We introduced the Letter D. What sound does it make? 

Tomorrow the BLUE group is going to the fire station. Thank you to the parent volunteers who are coming and have already volunteered to join us. 

This Friday is AM kindergarten.

Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. Our arrival centers included a chance to explore shapes.  We built buildings with shapes, used plasticine & toothpicks to make 3-D shapes, used geo-boards & elastics to make shapes and played shape roll & write.  Please ask your child what shape center they explored today.
