Happy December!

Today we started our Green Fools Residency.  During our regular gym times for the next 2 weeks, we will be working with Green Fools. http://www.greenfools.com/ . Please check out the link if would like more information about the residency.  Please ask your child what they learned today!

We began an author study of Jan Brett today.  We are excited to learn about Jan as an author and illustrator.  Today we read "Hedgie Blasts Off."  We worked in our journals and copied the sentence "I can be an author" and then we tried drawing a picture of story we want to tell about Winter.  Please ask your child to share their winter story with you!

Today Santa's Workshop opened in the classroom.  In this new dramatic play center, children can build toys, write letters to Santa and the reindeer, bake "pretend" cookies in the kitchen and make hot chocolate for all to share!

We are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support families in need at Christmas.  Eric Harvie School will be supporting twelve families in Calgary. Each pod has been assigned specific families to sponsor.  The links for each pod’s Google Sheets sign-up gift tracking sheet is listed below. Please note that each family has a separate tab in the Google Doc. Here is an example of the tabs you will see at the bottom of the page.  Click next to the donated item to check it off.  


Please wrap and label all gifts/donations with this specific information:

Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. Our arrival centers included a chance to explore shapes.  We built buildings with shapes, used plasticine & toothpicks to make 3-D shapes, used geo-boards & elastics to make shapes and played shape roll & write.  Please ask your child what shape center they explored today.
