Tuesday December 3


We have a Kindness Elf in our classroom - his name is Candy Cane! He surprised us yesterday and wrote us a letter explaining his mission visiting our kindergarten classroom over the next 2.5 weeks. We are excited to have him with us and can't where to see where he lands next.

Today we continued our author study of Jan Brett. We read the story "The Hat."  After reading the story we talked about the characters in the story. We learned that characters can be animals too! We thought maybe only people could be characters! After having a laugh at the story as all the animals were wearing winter clothes, it was our turn to draw our favorite animal from the story. After we drew we added a winter hat to our favorite animal. Kindergarten is really thinking about 5 star drawing and making pictures that look like real things and are using colors that make sense as they color.

Today was our second day of the Green Fools residency. We are having fun learning to juggle!

Reminder that there is no school for all students on Friday, Dec.6 as it is a Professional Development Day.


Families Helping Families
We are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support families in need at Christmas.  Eric Harvie School will be supporting twelve families in Calgary. Each pod has been assigned specific families to sponsor.  The links for each pod’s Google Sheets sign-up gift tracking sheet is listed below. Please note that each family has a separate tab in the Google Doc. Here is an example of the tabs you will see at the bottom of the page.  Click next to the donated item to check it off.

Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. Our arrival centers included a chance to explore shapes.  We built buildings with shapes, used plasticine & toothpicks to make 3-D shapes, used geo-boards & elastics to make shapes and played shape roll & write.  Please ask your child what shape center they explored today.
