Friday January 24

Today we started our morning with some arrival centers. During this time, we switched our home reading and many of us visited the learning commons. Our kindergarten students love reading and we are so excited to have so many beginner readers in our class.

We started an art project that we will share with you later. It involved a lot of cutting. We noticed many of the students struggling to cut simple shapes. Please practice cutting at home. Have your child make a grocery list and cut up some of the flyers. Take out play dough and have your child cut the play dough into pieces. Cutting ribbon or string or straws can also be fun

Attached are a few links to cutting pages if you would prefer to use the sheets. Remember to have thumb up, cutting away from our body, use your helper hand and chicken wings in.

We had Mrs. Southworth come in and do a lesson with us on whole body listening. What is whole body listening? Ask your child to tell you and show you what that looks like. We acted out different animals at the zoo and had to show how we would use whole body listening to correct the behavior. For example, Cheetahs running in the zoo. How would you show me how to use whole body listening with your feet.

We went to a special presentation in the gym in celebration of Chinese New Year.

School dance tickets will be on sale again on Thursday, Jan.30 in both the AM and the PM by a parent volunteer. Please do NOT send money with your child or to the office until that Thursday. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Enjoy your weekend!
