Thursday January 9

Mr. Kelly came to visit with us today. He read, "Snowman At Night" and we discussed the shapes and patterns we see when we look at snowmen. The children used oil pastels and drew their own snowman at night.

We had fun snack from Tim Hortons.

All the children attended gym. We are working on basketball skills.

We talked about our mitten designs and chose the items we would like to use for our creations. We talked about our mitten criteria and then the students drew and labelled their designs in their creative journals. Talk to your child about materials they are going to use. Is it waterproof? Is it warm? Will it keep the snow out?

PM kindergarten will be designing their mittens on Friday and AM kindergarten will design on Monday. If you have any materials such as packing materials, bubble wrap, fabric, cotton batting etc. to assist  in our creations, please send them to school tomorrow or Monday. Thank you !:)

This Friday is PM kindergarten / No school for AM Kindergarten.

Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. Our arrival centers included a chance to explore shapes.  We built buildings with shapes, used plasticine & toothpicks to make 3-D shapes, used geo-boards & elastics to make shapes and played shape roll & write.  Please ask your child what shape center they explored today.
