Today we were artists and made our own coloured paper with different painting techniques and colors. We used feathers, sponges, corks, plastic forks and knives, bubble wrap, lego, tin foil - ask me what my favourite item was to paint with.

We drew a picture in our visual journal about our visit to the Tuscany Vet Clinic yesterday and worked on our 5 Star Drawings:
1. colours make sense
2. colour in the lines
3. use many colours
4 take your time
5. add many details

Ask me what how I finished the sentence "I see a..." when I went to the vet clinic.

The blue group had gym in the morning while the red group went to music. Ask me what games I played with Mr.Der and Mrs.Coulson. In the afternoon, the yellow group went to gym and played "Junk in my yard" and the green group had music with Mrs.Coulson.

Thank you for all the glass jar donations - please do NOT send in anymore. We have more than enough!

A reminder to send home reading folder back daily. The children are doing a great job with their home reading and learning to switch their books on their own. Thank you for the support!

Information went home about the Survivor Wine Draw which is being run by Eric Harvie School Council. All proceeds will go to the Eric Harvie Enhancement Society.

Tickets for the upcoming dance will be made available to purchase on Thursday, Jan. 23 and Thursday, Jan.30 via school council parent volunteers. Please send in $2 or a school supply donation on Thursday(s) only. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Scholastic Book orders due Monday, January 27.

This Friday, Jan 24 is a PM Kindergarten day. There is no school for AM Kindergarten.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Kindergarten was very fun today.  All of our arrival centers were about Halloween. We printed halloween words, played bingo, roll and count game with rings, crafts etc. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes!  We drew pictures of ourselves in our Halloween costumes in our journals.  Some of us drew pictures of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and trick or treating with our families.  We used Smarties to sort by color and graph the number of Smarties in the box.  Ask your child what color they had most in their box.  After students graphed their Smarties, they got to eat them.  This was the highlight of their day! All students had gym today with Mr. Der . What game did your child play today? Ask them to share. Learning Intentions for the Week -  Early Literacy   I can express ideas and develop my understanding by sharing personal experiences. I can identify my favourite stories and books. I can use drawings to illustrate ideas and information, and talk about them. Learning Intentions for the Week -  Numeracy / N umber Sense I can represent and describe numbers 2 to 10, concretely and pictorially. I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10, to its respective quantity. I can compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence. We have continued to post a daily read aloud in the read aloud section which is located on the left hand side of the blogger.
