Wednesday January 22

Today in the morning, we had literacy centers at school. One group went to the learning commons where we went on a letter hunt. We were given a sheet with the upper case letters on it and we were letter detectives looking around the learning commons for the matching lower case letters. We learned there are a lot of letters in the alphabet and we will be back tomorrow to find the rest of the letters.

The other group stayed in the classroom and worked on counting the number of letters in our names.  We made a chart to see how many letters are in each name. We wondered what the longest name was in Kindergarten?

Today we started making a book! We are all authors in Kindergarten. Every one of us is a writer and we going to showcase our talents by writing a book called "Winter, Winter, What do you see?".  Today we worked on the first page of the book. Ask your child what they saw in winter on page 1.  We are illustrators too! We are learning how Eric Carle creates the art work in his books and we tried to make a picture using this technique. Our pictures look amazing!

The morning K groups went to the gym today and the afternoon K groups went outside to enjoy some sunshine. Please ask your child what they did in the gym.

Tomorrow tickets will be on sale for the school dance. Please send $2 or the school supply donation if your child wishes to purchase a ticket for the dance.

This Friday, January 24 is a PM Friday.  There is no school for AM Kindergarten.
