Hibernation

Today we read both fiction and non fiction stories about Hibernation. We read Hibernation Station and Hibernation. What did your child learn when reading the stories? What is the difference between a fiction and non-fiction book?

We watched a video on Hibernation. Ask your child what they learned about the animals that hibernate. 

We created a concept map about all the animals that hibernate and tried to group animals with their common characteristics. Each child drew an animal and then we sorted them based on where they hibernate. 

All classes went to gym today and we continued to work on our volleyball skills.

We played a math game, "Race to 30". The children played in partners and had to roll the dice and move their bear that many spaces. The first person to reach 30 wins the game. 

It was fun snack today but the popcorn was sent home, as we are not allowing popcorn to be eaten in the classrooms or school at this time.

Tomorrow is AM kindergarten.

Reminder there is NO SCHOOL on Thursday, Feb.13 & Friday, Feb.14 because of Teachers Convention and NO SCHOOL on Monday, Feb.17 as it is Family Day.

We will be celebrating Valentine's Day in Kindergarten on Wednesday, February 12th.  Feb. 12th will also be red, pink and white day in Kindergarten - please dress in these colors if you have them! If you are planning to send valentines with your child, please have your child sign their name only on the card. Please leave the "To" space blank. This makes it easier for your child to hand out the valentines. AM kindergarten has 40 friends and PM kindergarten has 37 friends. 

AM Kindergarten will host their Winter Celebration of Learning at 11:00am on Feb 28. PM Kindergarten will host their Winter Celebration of Learning at 11:00am on March 6.

Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up.
