Monday February 3

February will be a busy month in Kindergarten.

We will be celebrating Valentine's Day in Kindergarten on Wednesday February 12th.  Feb 12th will be red, pink and white day in Kindergarten, please dress in these colors if you have them!
If you are planning to send valentines with your child, please have your child sign their name only on the card.  Please leave the "To" space blank.  This makes it easier for your child to hand out the valentines.  AM kindergarten has 42 friend and PM kindergarten has 37 friends. 

There is no school Thursday Feb 13, Friday Feb 14 and Monday February 17th, for teacher's convention and the family day long weekend.

AM Kindergarten will host their Winter Celebration of Learning at 11:00am on Feb 28.  PM Kindergarten will host their Winter Celebration of Learning at 11:00am on March 6.

Today in Kindergarten we had the first of 2 presentations for "Who Do You Tell?"  If you have not returned your child's blue permission form, they did not participate in the presentation today.  If you would like you child to participate next Monday, please return the form ASAP.  Your child is coming home with a work booklet that they can share with you. Ask them what they learned from the presentation. 

The red and green groups had music today.  They worked with Mrs. Coulson on our song and poems for the Celebration of Learning.  The blue and yellow groups worked on the cover page for our "Winter, Winter What Do You See?" book.  We are getting very excited to share the books with you at the celebration of learning.


 *** Scientists In the School has been cancelled tomorrow and Wednesday due to the instructor being ill. They have rescheduled to come to our class on Monday February 10 and will send 2 instructors so both groups in the AM and PM will participate on the same day.  We apologize for the short notice to our volunteers as we just got a phone call at lunch today. We hope that we can still get 6 volunteers in the morning and afternoon to help us out. Thank you:) ***

Today was an outstanding day in Kindergarten.  We talked about what makes up a community and the interesting places we can find right in our own community of Tuscany.  We continued to explore community helpers and the jobs they do in our community.  We completed a journal response where we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. Our arrival centers included a chance to explore shapes.  We built buildings with shapes, used plasticine & toothpicks to make 3-D shapes, used geo-boards & elastics to make shapes and played shape roll & write.  Please ask your child what shape center they explored today.
