Wednesday February 19

Today we welcomed Mrs. Nakia Bedry to our class. She is training to be an educational assistant. She will be with us for 10 weeks every Wednesday and Thursday.

Our first year Mount Royal student Brittney Pickford taught a lesson this morning about hibernation. She read Baby Bear's NOT Hibernating and then the students had to graph which animals hibernate and which do not hibernate. The children then chose a math center to visit. They could complete a pattern or sort and graph the colored bears.

All students went to gym today and practiced their volleyball skills.

In groups, we created habitats for the winter animals. The children worked together in groups to use fabric and loose parts to create their environment. The children had to find a place for each animal and explain what that animal does in the winter. Do they hibernate, migrate or adapt ?

PM kindergarten students worked on a math problem today. There are 3 animals over the snow, how many legs are there? The children had to explain their thinking on how they came up with the answer.

This Friday is PM kindergarten. NO school for AM.
