Tuesday March 10

Today we broke off into our 3 interest research groups. The children voted which three they wanted to learn about and then chose which group they wanted to be in once we narrowed the choices down.

AM groups are Deer, Rabbits and Woodpeckers.
PM groups are Deer, Rabbits and Snakes.

We talked about what we already know about the animal and what we wonder about the animal. We then read a few stories and looked a variety of pictures and books and talked about the appearance of the animal. We made a big list about the animal and then the students created their first page in their research books about the appearance of the animal. What animal is your child learning about? Ask them to describe the appearance.

For our Read A Thon challenged today to read an Indigenous story. We read the story, "When We Were Alone". Ask your child about the story. What does Kokom mean? What happened to Kokom when she was young? Where did she go and what happened to her hair?

We send a white form home today about the Eric Harvie Read A Thon Pledge form. Please see it for more information.

Please check out the EHS Read-a-thon website!  Our goal at EHS this week is to read across Canada!  Please use the website to record your child's reading minutes each day.  Reading each day can include reading home reading books as well as listening to stories read aloud by someone else (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, older sibling, etc..)

AM Kindergarten will be going to Fish Creek Park on Friday. (Please see your email for further information)  Learners will need to bring a lunch, snack and a water bottle.  We will be meeting at the front doors of the school at 8:20am and will return to school at 1:30pm.  Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather as we will be outside for the majority of the morning.  Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to join us on this trip!  We appreciate your help!

There is no school on Friday for PM Kindergarten.
