Learning Intentions for the Week - Numeracy / Number Sense
  1. I can represent and describe numbers 2 to 10, concretely and pictorially.
  2. I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10, to its respective quantity.
  3. I can compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence.

Materials: journal, your favourite book from your house, pencil, crayons/pencil crayons

What is your favourite book?

After listening to the story, now it is your turn to tell us what your favorite book is.Please draw us a picture of your favourite story. Make sure to include the title of your book with your drawing (maybe have mom or dad help write the title if it's REALLY long!). Why did you choose this book? Does it make you laugh? Why do you like it? Remember to use your 5 star drawing when you are drawing and coloring. We can't wait to see what your favourite books are!

Math 

 We have some choices for math. We have a math problem and some scavenger hunts. Pick and choose what you would like to do!

 Materials - Journal, pencil, math manipulatives

 Now that we have practiced many math word problems I have one for you that doesn't have the question. It only has the answer.

My answer is 10.  What is the question? 

 Can you think of what the math problem(s) could be if the answer is 10? 

 You can show me with objects, write addition or subtraction sentences, write a word problem.

Choose a math scavenger hunt from below and complete it over the weekend! Have fun!


Challenge:
Take a walk over to the school and check out the Kindergarten windows. Can you find your name? Can you find your friends names? Can you find your teacher(s) names?

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Kindergarten was very fun today.  All of our arrival centers were about Halloween. We printed halloween words, played bingo, roll and count game with rings, crafts etc. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes!  We drew pictures of ourselves in our Halloween costumes in our journals.  Some of us drew pictures of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and trick or treating with our families.  We used Smarties to sort by color and graph the number of Smarties in the box.  Ask your child what color they had most in their box.  After students graphed their Smarties, they got to eat them.  This was the highlight of their day! All students had gym today with Mr. Der . What game did your child play today? Ask them to share. Students came home with overflowing colored folders.  Please empty the folders out and return them on Monday.  Every child has more book circles in their folders.  Thank you for continuing to read with your child and send the circles back.  We are
