Welcome back Kindergarten!  We hope that you had a fun Spring Break. We miss you at school!

Literacy:
materials - pencil, paper, pencil crayons/markers/crayons

Read the "I Am" poem with your learner. Have them act it out. Have your learner practice reading the poem, putting their finger under each word as they read. Have your learner count the number of words in each line. Have your learner count the number of letters in each line. They could practice writing the words " I am ". They could finish the sentence "I am" and draw a picture to go with their sentence. Please remember your 5 star drawing.

Math:
materials - deck of cards

Play Go Fish. Grab a deck of cards and a partner. Deal out 5 cards to each player. Players take turns asking others for a match to one of the cards in your hand. For example: "Susie do you have a 2?"  If yes, the asker keeps the pair of cards. If no, the asker takes a card from the go fish pile. Then it is the next players turn. Play until all cards have been matched. The winner has the most pairs. Consider only playing with the number cards in the deck (removing the face cards) so that learners can focus on recognition of numbers 1-10.

Challenge of the day:
materials - be creative ... anything you have at home that you can build with!

Build a tower as tall as you are! Feel free to email us a picture of you standing next to the tower you built. We can't wait to see them!

Important Info:
  • The school gym will be open Wednesday, April 1, 2020 from 10:00am – 1:30pm for any families who were unable to pick up their students’ belongings before spring break to come in and retrieve your child’s things. As per the first communication about this process, it is important to follow Alberta Health guidelines in regards to entering a public space – wash your hands for 20 seconds before leaving home, cough/sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve, maintain physical distancing of 2 m from other people, stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms. Please access the gym via the compound doors.
  • If families have concerns or are encountering difficulties with accessing school or community support or resources, please call the school office and leave a message, or email the school. Although we are not able to answer all phone calls immediately, we will respond to any messages as soon as possible. We want to stay connected with our families and sustain supports that have been established for our students.
