  1. I can represent and describe numbers 2 to 10, concretely and pictorially.
  2. I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10, to its respective quantity.
  3. I can compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence.

Literacy
Materials - white visual journal, pencil, pencil crayons

Listen to today's story and literacy task here: Fox and Squirrel Make a Friend

How can you be a good friend? How can you do something nice for a friend?

Ideas:
  • leave a drawing or note at a friend's doorstep
  • print your name and their name and draw a picture of you together with sidewalk chalk
  • send them a photo (via email)
  • paint a special rock

Extension (optional):
Using your visual journal, draw and write a story about how you can make a friend? What kind things can you do to show them that they are special? What do you like to do together?
Math Problem
Materials - Blue journal, pencil, manipulative (shapes)

1. You have 2 shapes that have different number of sides. What 2 shapes could you have?
Show and name the shapes. How many sides are there?

2. You I have 2 shapes with the same number of sides. What 2 shapes do you have and how many sides are there? Show me the shapes and write the number of sides.

Make sure to show me your thinking with your drawings. Label your drawings with numbers.

Extension (optional): Can you try it with 3 shapes? What shapes could you have?  Can you try 4 shapes? What could you have?

Challenge of the Day - Sock Art
Materials needed: socks, the more the better!

Please use the socks found in your house to make a masterpiece.  Here are a few photos for inspiration!  Have fun and be creative!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Kindergarten was very fun today.  All of our arrival centers were about Halloween. We printed halloween words, played bingo, roll and count game with rings, crafts etc. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes!  We drew pictures of ourselves in our Halloween costumes in our journals.  Some of us drew pictures of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and trick or treating with our families.  We used Smarties to sort by color and graph the number of Smarties in the box.  Ask your child what color they had most in their box.  After students graphed their Smarties, they got to eat them.  This was the highlight of their day! All students had gym today with Mr. Der . What game did your child play today? Ask them to share. Students came home with overflowing colored folders.  Please empty the folders out and return them on Monday.  Every child has more book circles in their folders.  Thank you for continuing to read with your child and send the circles back.  We are
