I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10 and its respective quantity. 
Literacy
Materials: Journal and pencil

 Listen to : Word family "en" Jen the Hen Read aloud

Can you make a list of the "en" words from the story in your journal. Can you find any more? After you make a list, draw a picture and try to make up a silly sentence to go with it using as many "en" words as you can.

Math
Materials: Containers and water

 Watch : Learning about volume and capacity

 Find containers around your house. Make a guess about which container will hold the most, which will hold the least? Will any hold equal amounts? Then test out your predictions in your sink or in your yard. Have fun playing in the water !

 Challenge
Answer the questions posted in our Kindergarten window. Take a walk or bike ride over to the school to check out our questions in the window. Feel free to take a picture and send us your answers over IRIS. Have fun!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Kindergarten was very fun today.  All of our arrival centers were about Halloween. We printed halloween words, played bingo, roll and count game with rings, crafts etc. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes!  We drew pictures of ourselves in our Halloween costumes in our journals.  Some of us drew pictures of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and trick or treating with our families.  We used Smarties to sort by color and graph the number of Smarties in the box.  Ask your child what color they had most in their box.  After students graphed their Smarties, they got to eat them.  This was the highlight of their day! All students had gym today with Mr. Der . What game did your child play today? Ask them to share. Students came home with overflowing colored folders.  Please empty the folders out and return them on Monday.  Every child has more book circles in their folders.  Thank you for continuing to read with your child and send the circles back.  We are

Learning Intentions for the Week -  Early Literacy   I can express ideas and develop my understanding by sharing personal experiences. I can identify my favourite stories and books. I can use drawings to illustrate ideas and information, and talk about them. Learning Intentions for the Week -  Numeracy / N umber Sense I can represent and describe numbers 2 to 10, concretely and pictorially. I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10, to its respective quantity. I can compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence. We have continued to post a daily read aloud in the read aloud section which is located on the left hand side of the blogger.
