I have enjoyed meeting each and everyone of you and am so proud that you are off to grade one now! I hope to see you all at the school in the fall. Have an amazing summer!
Today's "Year end celebration week" activity is a Community Scavenger Hunt where learners and families are able to get outside and explore their community to find clues and solve a mystery. Families are able to join in this optional task as they see fits for their family:
  • The clues will be posted on Wednesday morning and taken down later in the day on Thursday
  • It is easy for the family to join in together
  • There are three different maps for different ages that all point towards similar clues, Kindergarten & Grade 1 Clues, Grade 2 & 3 Clues and Grade 4 Clues.
  • We will share the solution to the puzzle during the whole school assembly on Friday.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Kindergarten was very fun today.  All of our arrival centers were about Halloween. We printed halloween words, played bingo, roll and count game with rings, crafts etc. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes!  We drew pictures of ourselves in our Halloween costumes in our journals.  Some of us drew pictures of pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and trick or treating with our families.  We used Smarties to sort by color and graph the number of Smarties in the box.  Ask your child what color they had most in their box.  After students graphed their Smarties, they got to eat them.  This was the highlight of their day! All students had gym today with Mr. Der . What game did your child play today? Ask them to share. Students came home with overflowing colored folders.  Please empty the folders out and return them on Monday.  Every child has more book circles in their folders.  Thank you for continuing to read with your child and send the circles back.  We are

Learning Intentions for the Week -  Early Literacy   I can express ideas and develop my understanding by sharing personal experiences. I can identify my favourite stories and books. I can use drawings to illustrate ideas and information, and talk about them. Learning Intentions for the Week -  Numeracy / N umber Sense I can represent and describe numbers 2 to 10, concretely and pictorially. I can relate a numeral, 1 to 10, to its respective quantity. I can compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence. We have continued to post a daily read aloud in the read aloud section which is located on the left hand side of the blogger.
